Double events for Paddy Power: Lighting resignation and Absolute Radio sponsorship

Jane Lighting, non-executive director of Paddy Power, has retired from the bookmaker’s board having served a four-year term. The company did not say whether she would be replaced.

Nigel Northridge, chairman of Paddy Power, praised her work during her tenure: "During Jane's four years on the Board, the Company has grown very significantly, for example more than doubling its revenues from €275m in 2008 to €654m in 2012.  We thank Jane for her contribution to the development of the Company and wish her every success for the future."

In other Paddy Power news, the Irish operator will sponsor Absolute Radio’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Football Match Day Warm Up program for the forthcoming Premier League season.

The sponsorship will take place online, mobile and across other platforms and sees Paddy Power’s “Ball of Shame” advert, which documents outrageous moments in football, promoted during DJ Mark Crossley’s Saturday morning show.

The bookmaker’s campaign is aimed at rewarding football fans who find themselves at the receiving end of unusual behaviour during matches. Listeners will be encouraged to tweet what moments they think should fall into the Ball of Shame category, with the winner rewarded with a cash prize.

The deal will also see Paddy Power use the commercial radio network’s InStream ad product to enable it to deliver more relevant and targeted messages to the audience.
