Plumbee received investments from Endemol
Multiplatform entertainment producer Endemol has announced that it has invested $13 million (€9.4 million) in social casino start-up gaming company Plumbee.
The round of financing, which also included previous investor Idinvest Partners, values the business at $40 million.
Endemol will now work with Plumbee to create premium social games, exploiting Endemol’s entertainment brands and building on Plumbee's worldwide user base.
Launched in October 2011, Plumbee creates, operates and markets free-to-play online and mobile games on social networks.
The social casino games are free to play but offer players the chance to purchase virtual credits to unlock more features and get upgrades, gifts and bonuses.
Recent growth has been driven by the success of its flagship Mirrorball Slots game, which launched on iOS in July of this year and is due to be launched on Android soon.
Plumbee also boasts a joint venture with online gambling company Unibet in the form of Bonza Gaming, which is behind Bonza Casino and Bonza Slots, one of the first real-money casino games on Facebook.
“This new partnership will allow us to accelerate the growth of Endemol's digital gaming business around the world, whilst capturing more of the value created by our entertainment brands,” Endemol’s commercial board chair, Lucas Church, said.
Raf Keustermans, Plumbee’s chief executive officer, added: “Joining forces with a world leading content creator like Endemol ideally positions us to develop a new generation of premium social games.
“Endemol will become a strategic shareholder and this will enable us to leverage the company’s international network and globally recognised brands.
“This will significantly boost the growth of our worldwide user base as we create gaming experiences that stand out from the competition.”
