Hellenic Lotteries awarded 12-year concession
The Greek government-backed Hellenic Republic Assets Development Fund (HRADF) agency’s award of a 12-year concession for the exclusive rights to operate the nation’s lottery to the Hellenic Lotteries consortium has been ratified by the country’s parliament.
Athens-based gaming and transaction processing systems developer and supplier Intralot said that its consortium, which also comprises OPAP and Scientific Games, expect the launch of the lotteries’ operations to start within six months of the contract’s ratification.
Intralot has signed supply contracts with Hellenic Lotteries to provide all technology, central system operation services, central system and network equipment maintenance and technical support services, as well as logistics and telesales services.
Intralot added that it would develop a new points-of-sale network for the state lottery, in addition to the current network of OPAP agencies.
“We are very pleased with the new project undertaken by the consortium in which Intralot participates,” Intralot group chief executive officer Constantinos Antonopoulos said.
“We are confident that the upgrade of the state lotteries and the new scratch lottery, one of the most successful games worldwide and also in the Greek gaming market, will bring important benefits to the Greek government and to the company’s shareholders.
“The strong structure of the consortium, the international experience of its members and their strong presence in the Greek market guarantee the success of the new company.”
