GTECH: appointment of a Vice-president

Italian lottery and gaming giant Gruppo Lottomatica has announced that its GTECH Corporation subsidiary has promoted Timothy Simonson to the post of Business Development Americas Senior Vice-President.

In his new post, Simonson is to report directly to Jaymin Patel, President and Chief Executive Officer for Providence-based GTECH, and will be responsible for handling lottery operator and private manager opportunities.

Simonson’s role will also see him help to develop business relationships with current and prospective new customers in North America and Brazil by offering opportunities across the company's entire product portfolio, which includes lottery, gaming machines, sportsbetting and interactive innovations.

“We see several opportunities for growth and expansion in the North American and Brazilian regulated gaming markets,” said Patel.

“With Tim's experience in strategic analysis and business development, I am confident he will provide the leadership needed to guide the development of lottery private management opportunities as well as developing strategies to pursue new lottery and gaming opportunities in these regions, as appropriate.”

Before joining GTECH in 2003, Simonson served as Chief Executive Officer for Traction Software, which is a venture capital-backed enterprise software firm serving the intelligence communities and Fortune 1,000 customers. From 1994 to 2000, he worked in sales management for American Power Conversion and was also one of the youngest members of former United States President George HW Bush's White House Staff as Lead Advance Representative to the President.

At GTECH, Simonson was most recently Regional Vice-President supporting customers in western and mid-western states and has also led the firm’s efforts to expand into the private management of lotteries.
