Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is the first to obtain permit from New Jersey
The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, the Atlantic City resort owned by Boyd Gaming and MGM Resorts International, has become the first casino to secure permission to offer online gaming in the US state of New Jersey.
The permit was granted by New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE).
MGM and Boyd are working with bwin.party Digital Entertainment on offering online gaming in the US. A number of states are expected to open up to online gambling in the coming months.
“Borgata and bwin.party are aggressively pursuing our objective of being among the first to launch online gaming in the state,” Tom Ballance, Borgata’s president and chief operating officer, said.
According to the Bloomberg news agency, Dave Rebuck, the DGE’s director, said that he expects operators to begin offering services by November 26.
Nevada and Delaware already offer online gambling.
