Rank Group appoints Birch to replace Burke

British gambling operator Rank Group has announced that Henry Birch will succeed Ian Burke as chief executive of the company with effect from May 6, 2014.

Burke will now take on the role of non-executive chairman of Rank Group.

Birch is currently serving as a non-executive director of CFD trading platform operator PLUS 500. His most recent role was as chief executive officer of William Hill Online, the joint venture between William Hill and Playtech.

Birch has also held various positions at the likes of Leisure & Gaming and Bettingcorp.

In a statement, Rank Group said: “The board would like to thank Ian for his commitment and hard work over the past eight years and is delighted that, after consultation with a number of its shareholders, the company will continue to benefit from his significant experience in his role as non-executive chairman of Rank.”
