Apple’s iOS 7 is expected to boost mobile gaming sector
Apple's new iPhone operating system is expected to give a significant boost to the mobile gaming sector, according to Mark Gibson, business development director at mgaming specialist mkodo.
Unveiled on Tuesday, Apple's iOS7 features a new M7 ‘motion coprocessor’ chip that offers greater potential for motion-sensitive apps.
The iOS 7 system also offers sharper displays and a new feature called AirDrop, which allows people to use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to share media with others nearby. Gibson said the new Apple mobile development would provide a “substantial change” for end users and app designers in the mobile gaming industry.
“The multi-tasking will improve the performance of apps yet further, including aspects such as sound synchronisation, whereas dynamic motion will allow movement between screens within apps to be more fluid and controlled by movement of the device,” he said.
“This will have a positive effect on the usability of apps and the quality of visual engagement.
“Apple's release promises to be the most significant iOS upgrade and hardware release for some time and, in time, a real opportunity to provide high-quality apps and services for a whole new population of customers.”
