138.com sponsors Watford’s shirts
English Championship football club Watford has signed a deal that will see the Asia-facing 138.com online gambling domain from Isle of Man-based operator Xela Holdings serve as its primary shirt sponsor for the 2013/14 season.
Garth Kimber, the former Head of E-Gaming Development for the Isle of Man and Chief Executive Officer for Xela Holdings, is hoping to see his team go one better than last season when the Hornets narrowly lost out to Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium in the race for a spot in the English Premier League.
“We are delighted to be in partnership with such an ambitious club and look forward to both parties achieving success over the coming seasons,” said Kimber, a life-long Watford fan.
“138.com is a new global brand for us. We look forward to helping grow the Watford brand globally alongside our own.”
Watford revealed that last season’s primary shirt sponsor, Sports Interactive and Sega’s Football Manager video games brand, is to continue supporting the club although its logo is to move to the reverse of its tops above the player name.
“I would like to warmly welcome 138.com into the Watford family as the club’s principal partner for the 2013/14 season,” said Scott Duxbury, Chief Executive Officer for Watford.
“To have a global brand again associated with Watford is a tribute to the progress the club has made this year. 138.com is an ambitious brand and we are an ambitious football club. We are very pleased to have concluded this exciting partnership and look forward to working together in the future.”
